Sumo Wrestling in Nigeria?

I was on the Africa section of CNN.com, a subsection of their World section, when I found this story. At first glance at the title I thought it was just speculation, but once I clicked on it I found out it was real: Sumo wrestling in Nigeria.

(For some reason I'm not able to post pictures or link a few words to another page at this time)

Anyways, what do you think? Sumo in Naija? Lol......

  1. I am kind of on the fence on this one,yes i think it is a very good idea and we really do have what it takes to compete in the sport, but at the same time we have our own form of wrestling which is also unique and it is almost going into extinction, what can i say?we can have the best of both worlds

  2. I see what you're saying. When I saw this, I really didn't know what to think. I was mostly surprised and slightly amused, but it does have broader implications. I'm not to sure it's going to catch on though. Naija people like to look good (Fine boy/ fine gal - no pimples... Lol). I don't think there will be too many men who will want to put on weight just for the sake of sumo wrestling. But you never know....Lol.
